AI Breast Cancer Tools Miss the Mark
Many breast imaging specialists use AI to help spot cancer, but the technology is not meeting their needs. About half of the doctors surveyed already use these tools in their daily work.
Most doctors expected the software to reduce the number of false alarms, known as recall rates. However, only a small fraction saw that improvement. The actual performance often falls far behind what the marketing materials claim.
These findings suggest that current AI is not yet the perfect partner for radiologists. More work is needed to make these tools truly helpful in a medical setting.
