AI Could Threaten Global Financial Stability

Andrew Bailey, who leads the Financial Stability Board, sent a letter to G20 officials this week. He warned that advanced AI models change how cyber threats work. These tools can increase the speed and scale of attacks on our systems.
The global financial system is deeply connected. If one part fails, the damage can spread very quickly. Bailey worries that AI makes it harder for banks to defend against these fast-moving threats.
Regulators need to act now before these risks spiral out of control. The focus must be on protecting the system from hackers using AI. Leaders will discuss these dangers at the upcoming G20 meetings.
