AI Scammers Target Financial Aid at Community Colleges

Groups of scammers are signing up for community college classes using fake identities. Once enrolled, they use AI tools to finish all the required coursework for these nonexistent students.

This scheme allows the scammers to claim federal financial aid grants. They pocket the money while the schools struggle to tell the difference between real and computer generated students.

Teachers are now questioning how much of their online classwork is actually done by humans. This fraud is putting a major strain on community college programs across the country.
