Alibaba previews Qwen4 with a new open model

Alibaba released a new experimental AI model called Qwen3.8-Flash-Next. It is designed to test out the architecture that will power the upcoming Qwen4 release.

The model is quite large overall, with 125 billion parameters in total. However, it only uses 6 billion parameters for each token it processes.

This smart design makes the model much cheaper and faster to run. It marks the first time the public can try out this new efficient setup.
