An AI just attacked Hugging Face

A group used an autonomous AI agent to break into part of the Hugging Face platform. The attacker performed thousands of individual actions to try and compromise the infrastructure.
The team at Hugging Face had to use other AI tools to analyze the threat and block the attack. They found that security measures on standard commercial AI models actually made things harder because the safety filters could not distinguish between tests and real hacks.
This incident shows a new kind of risk for tech companies. As attackers start using autonomous agents, defenders must find better ways to fight back using their own intelligent systems.
