Claude Code switches to Auto Mode to prevent mistakes

Anthropic is updating Claude Code so that Auto Mode is turned on by default for paid plans. This change happens on August 14. The goal is to catch risky commands before they cause problems.

Tests show that the AI is much better at spotting errors than people are. The system caught 89 percent of dangerous commands during testing. Human reviewers only caught about 14 percent of those same issues.

This shift changes how developers work with AI. Instead of writing every line of code themselves, engineers will spend more time checking the work that the AI produces.
