EU Makes AI Labeling Mandatory by 2026

The European Union is turning its AI labeling guidelines into law. By August 2, 2026, companies must clearly mark any content created by artificial intelligence. This includes images, videos, audio, and text.

Developers who build AI systems are responsible for embedding signals that identify machine-made output. At the same time, companies that publish AI content about public interest topics must tell their audience it was not made by a human.

These rules aim to stop the spread of fake information and deepfakes. Everyone will soon have a clearer way to tell what is real and what is generated by a computer.
