Google tests new medical AI for video doctor visits
Google recently tested a new AI tool called AMIE. In these tests, the AI held video calls with actors trained to act like patients. The actors had various health issues ranging from stomach pain to mental health concerns.
Professional doctors evaluated these video calls. They found that the AI performed just as well as human doctors. The AI scored high marks for accuracy and how it treated the patients during the conversation.
This is still early research. Google plans to test the system with real patients in future studies. The goal is to see if AI can help doctors provide better care during virtual visits.
