Instagram tightens rules on AI accounts

Instagram is changing how it handles AI profiles. Any account using an AI-generated person as its main identity must now use a specific label. The goal is to make sure you know who you are interacting with online.
If an account fails to add this label, Instagram will restrict its reach. This means the content will show up less often in your feed and recommendations. The platform wants to prevent confusion by keeping the distinction between humans and AI clear.
This update went live on August 31. It is a push to keep the app feeling more authentic for all users. If you run an AI account, be sure to update your profile settings to avoid these penalties.
