Microsoft releases a new security AI

Microsoft built a new tool called MAI-Cyber-1-Flash to spot digital threats. It is designed to work quickly and efficiently within their existing security systems. Testing shows it performs very well on standard industry benchmarks.

This tool is cheaper to run than larger models. By handling common security tasks itself, it cuts operational costs by about fifty percent. It only asks for help when it encounters a truly difficult problem.

For the hardest security challenges, Microsoft still sends data to OpenAI. This hybrid approach aims to balance speed and low costs with the high reasoning power of larger models.
