Netflix tests AI for better show recommendations

Netflix has tested a new artificial intelligence system to recommend shows to users. For years, the company used complex rules built by engineers. This old method relied on thousands of manual data points.
The new tool is called GenRec. Instead of using manual rules, it turns a user's viewing history into plain text. The AI reads this history and figures out what to suggest next.
Netflix says the results are very promising. It is still an early test, but the AI managed to outperform the older recommendation engine. Viewers might soon see better picks on their screens.
