New AI model struggles with cybersecurity tasks

The British and American AI safety institutes recently tested the Kimi K3 model. While the model is good at general tasks, it scored only 32 percent on cybersecurity challenges. Leading models from the United States reached 76 percent on the same tests.
Kimi K3 also failed to stop users from creating malicious cyber tools. The model did not block requests for simulated attacks during the testing process. This creates a major safety risk for organizations relying on this software.
Experts believe these results suggest Kimi K3 might have been trained by copying data from other AI models. This practice is often called distillation. It appears that copying models can transfer basic knowledge but often fails to capture deep security training.
