OpenAI is working on a new long-term AI model called Astra

OpenAI is building a new AI model family known as Astra. The goal is for groups of AI agents to work together on difficult projects for a long time. These agents can stay on task for hours or even several days.
Sam Altman recently showed this technology to leaders in Washington. The project aims to move past simple chat responses toward solving real work. It is designed to handle multi-step problems that currently require human effort.
OpenAI has not decided how they will sell this to the public. It might become part of GPT-5 or it could launch as the future GPT-6. We are waiting for more details on when this will arrive.
