OpenAI Plans Massive New Data Center in Georgia
OpenAI is moving forward with a project called Camellia. They signed a deal with Georgia Power to get 3.2 gigawatts of electricity. This power agreement will last through 2032.
Local residents have raised concerns about how much energy these facilities consume. To help smooth things over, OpenAI is investing 80 million dollars into the local community. They also promised 71 million dollars in credits for students to use their AI tools.
