OpenAI Updates GPT-5.6 and Changes Free Access

OpenAI launched a new version of GPT-5.6 Sol today. It gives you more focused answers and a slider to control how much thinking the AI does before it replies. These features are meant to make the tool more helpful for complex tasks.
Starting next week, free users will switch to a smaller model called GPT-5.6 Luna. You can still chat as much as you want, and there is a button to make Luna think a bit longer. However, this version will not be as smart as the premium options.
This change marks a clear divide between the paid and free tiers. OpenAI is pushing its most capable tools toward paying customers while keeping the free experience limited.
