Sign Language Translation Comes to Pixel Phones
Google has launched a new tool called SL2T for Pixel 11 phones. It translates American Sign Language into text in real time. This is the first time this technology is built directly into a mobile device.
The feature works anywhere you usually type on your phone. You can use it to send messages, search the web, or talk to the Gemini assistant. It allows users to communicate just by signing to their camera.
The tool officially arrives on August 12, 2026. It will be available inside the Gboard app and the Live Transcribe tool. This update makes it much easier for Deaf users to interact with their phones.
